Top 10 tips to survive the festive season!

We’re sure you will all agree it’s been a jam packed year and we wanted to take a moment to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the team here at Rejuva. So many of our clients have become our friends and even part of our extended family – we truly have the best clients in the world!

For our final blog post this year, we thought we’d share our favourite tips and tricks to make it through Christmas and the silly season looking and feeling fantastic!

1. Stay hydrated

If you do nothing else this holiday season, make sure you drink plenty of water! Alternate your glasses of bubbly with glasses of water – your head will thank you the next day! Staying hydrated helps your body rid itself of toxins faster, helps reduce any puffiness around your eyes from lack of sleep and will keep your skin looking fresh.

2. Moisturise

Whether from lack of sleep, too much time in the sun or one too many drinks, your skin is prone to drying out over the party season. Make sure you’re one step ahead of the game and keep up your moisturising routine!

3. Sun protection

No one wants to look like a lobster in the annual family photo! Make sure you apply sunscreen regularly and wear a hat or sunglasses – incidentally these are great accessories if you’re still recovering from the night before! (And if you forget, book in to see us in January so we can help fix any areas of concern!)

4. Maxis and shift dresses are your best friends

While that nipped in dress might seem like a great idea at first, we know that with all the delicious food circulating you’re going to want something loose fitting around your stomach by the end of dinner! A plain black maxi or shift dress is great for evening occasions and is easily glammed up with statement accessories. Go for something bright and colourful for a daytime look that will be great in photos and comfortable to wear all day.

5. Think about your shoes

If the thought of wearing those sky-high stilettos for the whole party makes you cringe, make sure you have a plan in place. Buy some gel inserts, take a spare pair of ballet flats or sandals to change in to, or choose a different pair altogether! For daytime and more casual parties, a wedge is a great option; still giving you added height while being much more forgiving on your feet.

6. Don’t skip breakfast

Breakfast will set you up with energy for the day, delay the effects of that first morning champagne and stops you from arriving at lunch starving and then overeating.

7. Eat the cake

It’s Christmas! Don’t be afraid to savour that piece of cake or the extra serving at dinner. Try all the desserts, drink the glasses of wine and celebrate the year that was and the year to come. Minimise the effects of these extra treats by limiting or cutting out treats on the days immediately before and after Christmas.

8. Take a nap

Trust us, you’re going to need it. Make sure you give your body some time to recover with a well-deserved nap. You can thank us when you wake up refreshed and ready for the next party!

9. Go for a walk

This doesn’t have to be a Kath & Kim power walk, but even just a stroll around the block will help burn off some of those extra calories, get your blood circulating and help you clear your mind after a busy day.

10. Relax and spend time with the people you love

After all, this is what Christmas is all about. Make sure you take the time to enjoy the company of your favourite people whether it’s your mum and dad, your bestie or your special someone.
